my painting pants (and being known)

these pants get a lot of wear!  the past few weeks i have had them on lots!  the white ceiling in the master bedroom had been bugging me, so i painted it about 14 days ago.  the color was okay, but not what i really envisioned ~ it was just not bold enough and i could not bring myself to continue the color into the bathroom.  out came the trusted sherwin williams paint wheel.  btw, the employees at sherwin know my name ~ some people are known at restaurants or grocery stores, i am known at the paint store.
as dark as the first color appeared initially, this was even more so!
the last of the old color going away.
the new color is sherwin williams tempe star and i think it is stunning.

all I need now is for a deep discount to occur on a white comforter that I have been looking at for about a year.  yes, a year.  go on sale already!

paint paint and more paint

this was a plain wooden table that has been in our foyer for years... i got tired of it blending into the floor. glossy black on the top with some fun turquoise legs makes this pop when you walk in the door. although the legs could be a tad darker to match the picture (which reminds me of paint cans ~ fun fact: i own more paint cans than shoes!)
this desk was on a neighbors driveway... she begged me to take it away along with two other dressers (i had to leave those too many projects at one time). i had fun with this one... shameful that it is in a closet! but it was a perfect fit for my sewing closet.
every four years or so i change our colors up... john david jokes that by the time we move the square footage will have to be adjusted to account for the smaller room size. the walls were grasslands (sherwin) the new color on the bookshelf wall is hardware (sherwin). the hubby left to play tennis on tuesday evening and this wall was 75% painted by the time he walked back in. (i have some family pictures to hang in the middle section)
random colors from my "i need to lighten the walls and bring in more accent color" phase. which lasted less than a day ~ some of the lighter colors seemed like a lack of color if that makes sense. these pictures of all white houses are beautiful but just not for me. chatroom (sherwin ~ seriously, who else) will be the wall color for the other walls. and yes, we have had our small group bible study meeting here and each week there are a few more samples on the wall.

so, who's up for some painting?

i heart color

it started the way most things do... with a visit to sherwin williams. i caught the salesman off guard when i walked in and announced "i needed a gallon of soulmate please". apparently he did not realize that was a color and not an invitation. our downstairs powder room is painted with soulmate ~ a great purple brown color ~ and i wanted to paint the closet across from the bathroom to match.
i have been wanting to add three shelves to the bottom for the childrens art/craft/crayon stuff that was on three shelves in my pantry. i took the original two shelves down, patched holes, painted and hung all the shelves back up.
the next day while feeding m2 lunch i thought that my pantry would look nice painted also. and since it was a small area it should not take that long. and since the art stuff was now out i only had to empty off two shelves.
the project finally ended that evening while my husband was playing tennis... with the other two downstairs closets painted, the coat closet felt left out. by the time he got home i was almost done... complete with a heating pad on an extension cord strapped to my lower back. he cracked a joke about my age and an upcoming birthday... of course that occurred as as he was reaching into the freezer for an ice pack for his knee.
so, one closet that should have only taken a portion of an afternoon ended up being a three day project since the paint for each had to dry before loading everything back in. ummmm, i wonder what i can paint next?
