katy ~ did we ever do this?

i took the children to kangaroo jac's since it was a holiday and who wants to stay home and do laundry on a holiday? i sat at a table and my three pretty much stuck together and helped m2 climb and slide. four moms to my left were dividing up seven children ~ then they each headed off in a different direction. they then would let the children with them play on one of two inflatables that they were guarding. the children would slide off and run for another slide across the building and the guard mom would shout "these are your two options for right now, we will head over there in a few minutes". after about 15 minutes of sliding they would then rotate counter clock-wise and allow the children to play on the next two slides. seriously, i watched them do this for two hours, barely speaking to the other moms, just yelling at the children that they only had "two options". i remember when the children were really little i would slide with them and as they got older watched and kept track of where they were ~ i am all about knowing their whereabouts and keeping them safe, but i thought this was a little much. so katy, did we ever act like this?

a mixed marriage

i've spent most of my life cheering for duke men's basketball ~~~ i am married to a carolina fan. as a family, we have cheered loudly for james mcadoo when he was in high school.  we have been in the stands when roy williams (unc head coach) oliver purnell (former clemson coach) and other college recruiters were in the crowd. he was a seriously great high school player who after graduation headed to chapel hill. so, now i cheer for duke and carolina... unless they are playing duke!

and i thought she was napping

the house was quiet.  little man and mq are back in school and m2 is down for a nap. me? i'm in the sewing room sorting through fabric. suddenly, i hear a song coming from down the hall. "hallelllluuuuuujah (long dramatic pause and in my mind i can see her arms raised, she's not a conservative baptist) Jesus is born at the mickey mouse clubhouse come inside it's fun inside. the night was silent, becaaauuuse, Jesus is born, at the mickey mouse clubhouse. deck the halls, at the mickey mouse clubhouse, come inside it's fun inside"

carpe diem

"clearly, carpe diem doesn't work for me.
i can't even carpe fifteen minutes in a row,
so a whole diem is out of the question".
i read this the other day after a friend posted a comment on facebook... so hysterical and so true. to read the entire post head to momastery.

new years day

last year we sent balloons to pops. this year we were undecided. on saturday afternoon, john david got a call offering us two UNC men's basketball tickets; we knew mom wied would love to go! pops loved college basketball, especially unc and syracuse. what a fun day for john david and his mom.
