a little putt putt and a happy birthday

Thursday night we headed down the street for a game of putt-putt.
this little girl thinks she won because she had the MOST POINTS with 102!
shortly after this picture we realized that Wesley had a high fever and strep throat which was why he did not do well.  and m1, well like always she just had a fun time!
with his last minute heroics and a hole in one on number 18, he beat his momma by one stroke.  lucky dog!
the exact moment that she realized her aunt sissy had walked around to all of the people at the putt-putt place and asked them to sing happy birthday to her!  blurry picture because I was balancing a dripping cone in one hand and holding the camera between sticky fingers with the other hand.  we had already celebrated her birthday with friends and it's really not until Saturday but we celebrated over ice cream tonight!

3rd grade pet day

m1 and holly ~ since we don't have a pet, she borrowed one of her teacher's dogs.  another classmate borrowed the other.
each class walks around and pets the animals, some tolerate it better than others.  holly seemed to like the attention.
this picture makes me cringe... the only non-fury pet of the group.
after the classes walk through, each student give a short speech about his/her animal that includes how they came to live with the family, a funny story and what they like about their pet.

what i wore wednesday... county fair

the third grade hosted the county fair (after reading charlotte's web) so i pulled out my over-alls and cowgirl hat... m1 had on a plaid shirt and a pink cowgirl hat.  most wiww posts have product details so if you are wondering: both shirts and over-alls old navy (over alls at least 15+ years old and not in my current rotation of everyday wear :-) my hat: target, girls hat: consignment sale.
the girls behind the idea... they cut a few fabric strips, before the mom's took over.

the object was to throw spiders (made from black socks) and lady bugs (from a bean bag toss game we already had) through the web.  some of the other groups did face painting, nerf bullet target games, putt putt golf, ring tosses and some others i don't recall right now.  each class in the school gets to come through the fair and win candy for participating in the games.

charlotte's web

the third grade just finished reading "charlotte's web" so we are getting ready to host the 3rd grade county fair.  each group of children had to come up with a game concept, create the game and rules and then host the game the day of the fair.  m1 and her two friends wanted to do a web toss.  so we made spiders and had bean bag lady bugs from another game that are going to be tossed through the web.   the girls also cut strips of left over fabric from other projects which i sewed together to create a girly web.  hopefully, the object will be to toss the spiders and ladybugs through the web.  if that does not happen we might have to change the rules for them to be tossed into the web.  it will be a county fair game day decision.  ps ~ you can be certain that i am holding onto this and m2 will be politely coerced into the same type of game when she reaches 3rd grade.

let's cheer

UPWARD cheerleading and basketball is the best!  i have a great group of girls this year, seven returned from last year which makes learning things even better.

little man running on the court before the game while sister m1 looks on (far right).

m1 gives her daddy a big smile.
cheering on the court at half-time and along the sidelines during the game.

old timey stuff

the girls and i went downtown (john david and little man were at the unc basketball game) to look at some of the *old timey* decorations like they had when i was little.
most pictures by m1!
when we walked out of the building mickey was walking around... i don't know why he's very far from home, but we took a picture anyway!

supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

for my birthday, john david gave me two tickets to for mary poppins (part of disney on broadway).  m1's favorite movie is mary poppins so she was my natural choice.  she was spellbound from the first note from the orchestra to the final drop of the curtain.  i was quite enthralled too!

i taught her everything she knows...

except for this... seriously, what is that?  i was proud of m1 for doing her flips at the second grade end of the year pool party.  she was the only one that could!  some of the boys started trying but they all landed on their backs... wimps.  now, let's start working on perfecting that pike.

fancy hair

i need to work on my bobby-pin placement but m1's hair is getting long enough to do some fun styles with.  the goal was four little buns closer together... maybe next time.  oh, and the added bonus?  this girl with stick straight hair had some curls once we took the buns out.

these girls

m1 and micadoodle
compassionate, merciful, positive, bright smile
witty, boisterous, trendsetter, charmingfive years separate them but for now that does not matter
they giggle and cheer each other on... and antagonize the boys.

what does the future hold for them? a career, motherhood ~ we don't know yet. i pray they will be women who love God and are faithful. women who know they are set apart and have a pure heart.

but for now we will savor the moments we have. i recently read that we only have 18 summers with our children and then they are "grown".  i want to make the most of that time!
