mommy moments i love

m2 and i ran some errands this morning.  we passed chick-fil-a and i had a sudden hunger for chicken mini's.  so we ran in grabbed some plus a fruit cup and sat for a while.  m2 then asked to play for a few minutes.  she walked into the play area and then immediately walked out and loudly declared "I NEED TO GO POOP BEFORE I TAKE MY SHOES OFF AND PLAY". 

the girls room

i realized i never posted pictures of the *almost* finished room.  the first picture is the shelf above m1's bed ~ not quite what i envisioned (bead constallation project? not what i would have put up there, but it is her shelf).  the second picture is m2's shelf; minnie mouse usually has a sock on her head, i guess she gets cold sometimes. 

m1's bed has a pink flower pillow and m2's has a yellow flower and ladybug.  the long patchwork pillow was one sham before i cut it in half and sewed it into two pillows.  it matches the blanket at the foot of the beds which was a queen quilt that i cut in half and sewed up.

you can see part of the dresser that took me a while to paint ;-) with fabric pulls because the original pulls broke once the girls started using them.  the chair was painted by sister for micadoodle's nursery (hard to believe that girl is 12).  i need some artwork for the walls, but for now i am considering this done.  

this little stuffed animal corral was also painted by sister for micadoodle's nursery ~ i think she put books in it.

she's bossy

m2:  mommy can i play on webkinz junior?
mommy: yes, but i am fixing dinner so your brother or sister will have to help you log on.
m2: (runs to the front door) hey, mommy said to put up your bikes and come in right now!
once they clean up their bikes and come in (which you might recall i did not say) the conversation continues.
m2: take off your shoes and put them where they belong.
m2: hey, m1 i need you to find the computer and log me onto webkinz junior.
m1:  okay.

loving this simple time

yummy soup and other recipes

my son loves loves loves soup. and not the campbell's variety (in nine years i think he has only had two bowls of canned soup and that was when he was sick) he loves home-made authentic soup. this is a winner in his book and mine too. i did make a change to the author's recipe by not adding fire roasted diced tomatoes. i simply cut up a tomato and added it to the pot; the youngest member of the family does not like added fire to her food. not only is the next recipe pretty but i got a unanimous five thumbs up for this one. yes, i made a change to this one also... i do not eat mayo so i substituted plain greek yogurt. one more easy one for you to try is chicken stuffed with zucchini and cheese, yeah, you had me at cheese. of course my change here is to not measure the cheese, seriously, 3 oz. or two handfuls are probably about the same anyway. hope you enjoy these soon because they were all delicious and easy to make!

crying over a whitman's sampler

walking through target i rounded the corner and smack in front of me was the valentine display. i spotted a whitman's sampler and immediately teared up. my father-in-law bought me one every year for 14 years. it just hurt my heart that i have not gotten one in two years. sometimes the strangest things make me miss him.
